Ms. Johnalyssa Washington
I'm excited to be here at Austin High School. Go Bulldogs!! I began my career in education in 2007. I have taught grades 6th - 8th, as primarily an ELA teacher. I have also taught Social Studies. After years of teaching ELA, I transitioned to a beginner Emergent Bilingual teacher. I am passionate about working with a diverse group of students.
After many years as a classroom teacher, I transitioned to professional school counseling. I have been a counselor since 2021. Advising and guiding students is also something I feel strongly about; my goal in education has always been to act as a support and positive space for all students.
Now, a little bit about me personally...I have a wonderful husband of over twenty years. We have four beautiful children, three daughters and one son. In my free time, I enjoy traveling with my family, reading books, and trying to catch up on my favorite TV shows.
