Ms. Hongnhung (Ruby) Pham Stuart
I enjoy sharing the educational journey with the different personalities of each student in the classroom. This is most certainly the best part of being a teacher. With this belief, the classroom is filled with lively discussions that question what we know and how our society develops the epistemological metanarrative that we meander through our daily lives. I love to laugh at myself and with the students as we learn how rhetoric helps us in the fields of science, math, and social sciences.
Currently, I am the English College Now instructor, which is the dual English course at Austin High School. In our course, we discuss rhetorical and social theory which includes many critical theorists such as Derrida, Foucault, and Baudrillard that expand our content of knowledge with a focus on media theory. In this class, students explore themselves and their interests. We focus on students finding their voice in their writing as they learn how to write for college.
I received my Bachelor's degree in English literary studies from the University of Houston, a Master's degree in Literary Studies from West Florida University, and will begin my Doctorate in Educational Leadership at the University of Houston.
This is my fifth year at Austin High School, and my eleventh year teaching in a public school setting.
Additionally, I am the Head Debate coach and co-UIL coordinator. We have a focus on providing different opportunities for our brilliant and stellar students to apply and compete in academics.
Outside of the classroom, I am chasing around my three children with all of their interests and activities, and I explore the arts and nuances in and around Houston. I am excited to be a part of your journey of understanding yourself and the world around you.
