I grew up in Choctaw, Oklahoma and was an All-Big City selection in football, basketball, and baseball at Choctaw High School. I went on to play basketball and baseball at Rose State Junior College, becoming the first two-sport letterman at the college. Hung up the cleats and basketball shorts in 1990 and enrolled at the University of Oklahoma. After a career of 10 years of sportswriting, I came to AHS in 2002. Due to great students/athletes, I am the only teacher/coach to go to state in journalism and tennis. I was inducted into the Choctaw Athletic Hall of Fame in 2023. I’m married to Joyce Joseph and have three kids (Benji and the twins – Nicholas and Samantha).
