I am a native Californian, but have lived in Texas for most of my life. I grew up swimming, singing and writing. At the age of 12, I qualified for Nationals in swimming.  I have competed at the State and National Level and swam D1 at the University of Miami and at Arizona State.  After graduating, I began coaching swimming for club and rec league swimmers while attending the Univ. of St. Thomas to earn a Masters in Creative Writing and Communication after winning a writing grant to supplement my tuition. After working in the public sector as a PR/Marketing Consultant for Medical and Engineering firms, I stayed home to raise two boys. During this time, I began to coach swimming again for FCST and the New Territory Tarpons, and worked as an Copy Writer/Editor for a published writer here in Sugar Land. When my boys were about to enter school, I went back to school to obtain my teaching certification, and after a year of teaching 4^th grade, began teaching ELA and coaching swimming here at Austin High School where our team took swimmers to State with top 5 finishes in addition to winning at the District & Regional level. Additionally, I have been awarded the Theron Pickle Lifetime Achievement award for Coaching by the State of Texas High School Coaching Association.. 

Currently, I am the Department Chair for the English Dept and teach AAC English II and Dual Credit English.  I am also the Head Coach for the Austin Swim Team, Asst Water Polo Coach & the Champion of Gifted Services. I have my Master’s Degree in Gifted Curriculum and Instruction from Arizona State University and a Masters' certificate in English Literature from National University. I am the mom of two grown young men and two giant dog floofs and married to my high school swimheart.
