Mrs. Mary Evermon
Mrs. Evermon lived in the South American country of Argentina from ages 6 to 12, and speaks Argentine Spanish, or Castellano. Upon entry into college, she earned her bachelor's degree in Spanish, Education, and certifications in Religious Studies, English as a Second Language, and Middle School English. Mrs. Evermon highly recommends that students (be they beginners or heritage speakers) strive to excel in all areas of language (reading, writing, speaking, listening) in order to feel more confident and be more versatile in their chosen second (or third or fourth!) language.
Mrs. Evermon lives in Sugar Land with her husband and three beautiful children. She enjoys reading, cooking, listening to instrumental music, going for walks, and watching movies with her children. What she wants most for her students is for them to understand that it is their experiences with and exposure to diverse populations and cultures that will not only help them better understand the world without, but also to better reflect on the world within as they continue on their individual journeys to self-realization.

When people believe their basic qualities can be developed, failures may still hurt, but failures don't define them. And if abilities can be expanded- if change and growth are possible- then there are still many paths to success. - Carol S. Dweck, Ph.D.
