I am excited about returning for my 4th year at Elkins High School!  This is my 10th year teaching Spanish.  I have taught Levels 1-3 as well as Native Speaker and AP Spanish Language. I am a native Houstonian and have lived in Sugar Land for the last 12 years.  My family is Colombian, and I had the advantage of growing up bilingual.  Having experienced both languages and cultures, I am able to bring them together in the classroom.  My hope is that my students will learn the Spanish language and culture, so they can confidently use their skills and knowledge outside the classroom.  This year, I am proud to serve as sponsor for LASA (Latin American Student Association) that educates and celebrates hispanic and latino culture.  It is open to any Elkins student regardless of ethnic background or experience with the Spanish language.

My hisband and I celebrated our 20th anniversary this summer.  He teaches Spanish and coaches girls' cross country at Kempner High School, where my daughter graduated in 2024. I am excited that my son will be attending Elkins as an incoming freshman this fall!  We have 2 rescue dogs, Mia and Cappuccino.  We love traveling, trying new food, going on walks, photography, watching movies, telling jokes, and playing videogames.

In the summer of 2023, I had the amazing experience of spending a week in Salamanca, Spain, thanks to the generous partnership between and sponsorship of the department of Cursos Internacionales de la  Universidad de Salamanca and Edinumen.  I participated in 20 hours of class in the mornings for professional development and then our afternoons and evenings provided cultural learning experiences.  I am grateful for the opportunity and am excited to use what I have learned in the classroom.
