“It is not easy to be a pioneer – but oh, it is fascinating!” -Elizabeth Blackwell, first woman to earn a medical degree in the United States.

The American Medical Women’s Association, or AMWA (pronounced am-mwah), is the oldest specialty organization aimed to advance women in medicine, advocate for equity, and ensure excellence in healthcare through various mentorships, service projects, and branch collaborations! AMWA at Elkins is the second high-school branch in the country, making FBISD a pioneer district for this organization!
