Welcome to Math and Science in Mr. Hodges’ Classroom!

My name is Jeremy Hodges. This is my 21st year of teaching, my first at Neill Elementary. I started my career teaching 4th grade, all subjects, for 4 years in Killeen, Texas.  This will be my 17th year teaching in Fort Bend ISD since leaving Killeen. Most of my time in FBISD has been spent teaching 5th grade math and science.

I am a firm teacher with strong expectations for how my students should approach their learning. From day one, I work hard to get my students to understand the importance of taking ownership and responsibility for their learning. The absolute greatest way for them to demonstrate this to me is by asking questions about the topics and strategies that they don’t quite understand. True learning begins with questions. I LOVE IT WHEN MY STUDENTS ASK QUESTIONS! I really enjoy teaching math. It gives me great pleasure to watch my students grow as young learners and individuals, especially when that growth includes successes that they have previously failed to achieve before spending a year with me.

I am a Wyoming boy that grew up playing baseball, fishing, and enjoying the great outdoors that surrounded me in my hometown of Casper. I graduated from the University of Wyoming with a Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education. I have an energetic set of boy/girl 7th grade twins, Christian and Hayley, who were Neill Longhorns in 4th and 5th grade. My amazing wife, Sara, will also be a new teacher at this amazing campus this year.
