Welcome to 4th grade!! I am proud to be part of the 4th grade team at Scanlan Oaks Elementary. This will be my 8th year teaching at Scanlan Oaks. I live in Sienna Plantation, and I am grateful to teach in the community. I am the mother of two girls with my husband, Tony. Mary is an English major at Texas State University and Anna is a Junior at Ridgepoint High School. In addition to spending time with my family, I enjoy reading, traveling, and yoga. 

I am originally from Baton Rouge, Louisiana, where I attended Louisiana State University. Go Tigers! Then I moved to Iowa with my husband, who is a native Iowan, and graduated from the University of Iowa with a Master's degree in Educational Psychology. 

My teaching philosophy is that the classroom is a learning community. Each student contributes to our learning in their own unique way. My role as an educator is to act as a guide, encouraging students to reach their potential. I also believe in parent communication because, together, we can foster a love of learning in your child. I know we are going to have an amazing 4th grade year. Thank you for your support!
