The Gifted and Talented Department is excited to announce the pilot of our GT Summer Camp in the Summer of 2023. As we prepare to launch our STEM-based camp, we want to ensure all aspects of the program are implemented with fidelity. For this reason, our 2023 summer camp will be offered to rising 3rd through 5th grade FBISD GT-Identified students only, with other grade-bands to follow in subsequent summers.
-
Registration for the GT Summer Camp for the Summer of 2023 will open on February 13th, 2023 at noon. Space is limited, with only 25 spots available for students in each camp. If you need to enroll multiple children, please fill out a separate form for each child. All payments will be final and there will be no refunds once registrations are purchased.
We are excited to announce both summer camp locations are SOLD OUT! This is fantastic for our first year of piloting the camps.
Although we do not anticipate any openings, please feel free to join our waitlist here.

The GT camp for the summer of 2023 will be offered in two locations to provide flexibility and ease of access for GT-Identified students from across the district (see options below). Please note that the two camps will be identical, just offered on each side of the District. Parents will only need to register for their preferred dates and associated location. The District has confirmed the locations of the camp to be Schiff Elementary and Patterson Elementary and will operate Monday through Thursday from 8:15 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. **Transportation will not be provided.**
Summer Camp Week Options (identical experiences)
- Week 1: June 12th - 15th Schiff Elementary
- Week 2: June 26th - 29th Patterson Elementary
After surveying parents through our GTPAC and researching other summer programs offered through FBISD, the tuition for the summer camp will be $150 for the four-day camp. The summer camp will be self-funded through this tuition and will cover all expenses associated with the camp including:
- Field Trip(s) – including, but not limited to tickets, bus and driver, gas and mileage
- Materials needed for student experiences
- Student snacks
- Summer Camp Teacher Compensation

Our GT-specific summer camp provides a venue for academically and intellectually exceptional children to have fun while enhancing not just their intellectual interests and needs, but also their emotional, social, and problem-solving skills, with other like-minded peers. With specialized instruction chosen to stimulate children's imagination and broaden their grasp of a high-interest topic, your child will not only be entertained, but also educated, and challenged.
