What is the differentiated teacher step plan?
Prior to the VATRE, Fort Bend ISD’s P7 Teacher Salary Structure (187/190 calendar) provided a $500 pay increase incrementally each year except for a one-time increase of $1,000 after the completion of Year 5 (Step 6).
The 2023-24 P7 Teacher Salary Structure (187/190 calendar) included in the VATRE expands the differentiation factor to each 5-year milestone up to 25 Completed Years of Service (Step 26).
Teachers on P7 Teacher Salary Structure with different calendar days are paid using the daily rate of this scale. -
How do I know if I am on the Teacher Pay Scale?
Refer to your Employment Information page in your My Self-Serve. Your salary plan will reflect as P7.
-
Is the retro pay going back to my pay step or years completed?
The VATRE increase and retro pay will be based on your current step/pay grade as recorded in PeopleSoft. If you are a new hire and have service records pending to be submitted or reviewed, your step may change and your compensation will be updated accordingly.

The VATRE compensation plan includes a 3% increase for administrators and business professionals, principals and assistant principals, and directors and above. How is this 3% increase calculated?
The 3% pay increase for the above groups is calculated based on the midpoint salary for your designated pay grade. Following passage of the VATRE, the compensation team will calculate the 3% increase for all eligible positions, with payment scheduled to occur on the 12/15/23 paycheck.
The following details are provided to support employees who are interested in calculating their new salary prior to 12/15/23:
- For exempt employees, calculate 3% of the midpoint from the Pay Structure that is based on your Holiday Schedule and Salary Plan. If you do not know your Salary Plan or Holiday Schedule, refer to your Employment Information page in your My Self-Serve to identify your Salary Plan and Holiday Schedule to complete the calculation.
-
I am eligible to receive a $1.00 per hour or $1.50 per hour increase, but I do not know my current hourly rate. How can I calculate my raise?
Your raise can be calculated by multiplying your work calendar days by 7.5 hours and then by either $1.00 or $1.50.
For example, if you work 184 days and your raise is $1.50, the calculation would be: 184 days × 7.5 hours × $1.50 = $2,070 in total.
