OUR HIRING PROCESS
All FBISD substitutes are required to complete a thorough background check, including fingerprinting, prior to an official job offer. Once you are hired, you’ll also receive training and resources to help you in your new journey as an FBISD substitute! Fort Bend ISD offers our substitutes competitive daily rates, and offers increased pay for degreed and certified candidates.
Note: Effective May 25, 2022, FBISD has discontinued the additional $25 per day incentive that was initially implemented in 2021. Please see the compensation tables below for FBISD's current daily rates.
All substitutes are encouraged to check their ReadySub account each day for substitute opportunities.

Thank you for your interest and desire to return to education in a substitute capacity. We are thrilled that you’ve decided to continue to impact student learning and academic success!
Please read the new change below if you are a TRS (Texas Retirement System) retiree and would like to return to work in a full-time capacity. However, it is your responsibility to reach out to TRS to understand how employment with Fort Bend ISD will impact your annuity.
Change in Retirement Date to January 1, 2021 for Employee After Retirement (EAR)
HB 1585 was effective in May 2021 and does not impact Reporting Entity (RE) reporting requirements. This change allows a service retiree with an effective date of retirement on or before January 1, 2021 to be employed in any capacity in Texas public education without forfeiture of benefits for the months of employment.
While service retirees who retired on or before January 1, 2021 may work an unlimited amount of time for a TRS-covered employer without forfeiting an annuity payment, Reporting Entities will still owe surcharges to TRS each month on all retirees who retired after Sept. 1, 2005 and worked more than one-half time employment.
