High School Economics – 9-Week Parent Newsletter
Parents and Guardians,
We are starting the 2nd 9 weeks in Economics! In this term, students will explore key concepts that connect directly to their daily lives — from how countries trade goods and services across the globe to how individuals make smart financial decisions.
📚 Topics of Study
1. International Trade
Students will examine how and why nations trade, the benefits and costs of global trade, and the impact of government policies. Key concepts include:

Tariffs, Quotas, and Embargoes

Exchange Rates and Currency Value

Trade Agreements (such as NAFTA/USMCA, WTO, etc.)
Through class discussions, activities, and simulations, students will gain a deeper understanding of how trade affects economies and consumers around the world.
2. Personal Finance
In the second half of the term, students will shift focus to managing their personal finances and understanding how financial systems work. Key topics include:

Students will apply what they learn to real-world financial decisions, preparing them for financial independence and responsibility.
