Purpose:
The National Honor Society (NHS) is the nation’s premier organization established to recognize outstanding high school students. More than just an honor roll, the NHS serves to honor those students who have demonstrated excellence in the areas of Scholarship, Leadership, Service and Character. Four main purposes guide the DHS chapter of NHS: “To create enthusiasm for scholarship, to stimulate a desire to render service, to promote leadership, and to develop character in the students of secondary schools.”
Meetings:
Third Wednesday of every month from 3:00-4:30 PM in the cafeteria. Sometimes 4th (like in March when the 3rd Wednesday is Spring Break).
Requirements:
Junior or Senior, 85 or greater unweighted GPA, 8 hours of service per semester to include an ISP (Individual Service Project), and exemplary character. Members must attend all meetings, complete service hours, and meet all deadlines.
