STUDENT TEACHER PROGRAM
-
Fort Bend ISD supports student teachers and considers them our future FBISD teachers. We provide them with a quality teaching experience, professional development to prepare them to be teachers in FBISD, interviewing support, and mock interviews with principals. We consider our student teachers part of the FBISD family.
-
Student Teacher Application Process:
-
Step 1
Student teachers must inform their institution/program of their desire to student teach in FBISD.
-
Step 2
Institutions/programs provide the FBISD Talent Acquisition department (Crystal.Renteria@fortbendisd.com and FBISDInduction&Mentorship@fortbendisd.com) the following information:
- Student teacher name (Last, First)
- Student teacher email
- Student teacher phone number
- Content Area
- Information regarding more than one placement
- Desired quadrant number for placement
- Supervisor's name, email and phone number
-
Step 3
Once the Talent Acquisition department receives the information, the department collaborates with Organizational Transformation to place student teachers with an experienced, quality FBISD teacher who has successfully completed the application process.
-
Step 4
Prior to starting, student teachers complete an application in Taleo in order to obtain a background check, (technology permission), and submit a notarized affidavit.
-
Step 5
Usually, within a week of the start of the semester, student teachers attend an orientation to learn about the FBISD culture and expectations.
Throughout the student teaching window, student teachers meet with the Talent Acquisition and Organizational Transformation department regularly to learn more about the district and obtain additional support in areas like classroom management, diversity, meeting the needs of different learners, etc.

Fort Bend ISD appreciates and supports student teachers. We hope you consider starting your journey with FBISD.
