Mrs. Ferguson: 2nd Grade ELA and Social Studies

Hello, My name is Lakiethra Ferguson and this is my sixth year teaching and my third year teaching at Juan Seguin Elementary. I absolutely love being a part of the Stallion family. I was born in Houston, Texas and grew up in the Cypress Fairbanks Independent School District. I attended college at the University of Houston "Go Coogs" and graduated from the University of Houston-Downtown "Gator Pride". I received my Bachelors of Science in Criminal Justice with a Minor in Psychology. I have a loving husband, a toddler son, and an adorable Yorkie Terrier. In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my family and relaxing with a nice candle. My favorite sports team is the Houston Rockets.

I always knew that I wanted to be a servant leader and help others. Ever since I was a child I have had dreams about becoming either a teacher or a lawyer whenever I grew up, because I have a huge heart and love helping others. I first began working with children 22 years ago. I started out volunteering with the YMCA as a pre-teen and loved assisting small children. As I got older, I worked the following jobs: child-watch, night nurse, nanny, date night sitter, summer camp counselor, teen camp counselor, after-school teacher, infant teacher, toddler teacher, juvenile supervision officer and substitute teacher. While working as a substitute teacher, I was approached by an assistant principal who believed in me and took the time to guide me down the teaching path that I am on today. I have a passion for teaching and working with children. My ultimate goal is to ensure that every child succeeds and reaches their full potential.

My conference times are Monday-Friday from 2:30pm-3:15pm.
