Hello! My name is Salena Gourrier, and I am a proud native Houstonian, originally from Missouri City, Texas. I am a product of Fort Bend ISD, and it is a true honor to return to the district for my 10th year teaching English Language Arts. This year is especially exciting, as I joined the incredible team at Lake Olympia Middle School to rebuild our brand and level up!

I earned my Bachelor’s degree in psychology from the University of Houston and went on to pursue my Master's in Mental Health/School Counseling. These academic experiences have shaped my approach to teaching, and I’m passionate about supporting my students not only academically but also socially and emotionally. I believe in the importance of nurturing a well-rounded student and look forward to mentoring and guiding each person to be their best self in all aspects of life.

In addition to teaching English Language Arts, I've had the opportunity to teach AVID and coach Cheer and Volleyball, and I am deeply passionate about playing and watching sports. When I’m not in the classroom, you’ll probably find me reading, writing, singing, listening to music, traveling, meditating, or spending time with my wonderful family.

I am truly excited about what this school year has to offer, and I look forward to creating a positive, enriching, and memorable experience for my students. This will be a blessed and wonderful year full of growth and learning. Let’s make it a great one!
