Dual Credit Enrollment
-
Students interested in taking dual credit courses in Summer 2026, Fall 2026 or Spring 2027 should read and follow the instructions below to successfully request a dual credit class. Please note that courses and eligibility requirements are subject to change. Students should complete all by the deadline in order to be eligible for the class(es). All dual credit paperwork this year will be completed online; no paper copies are available or accepted.
Step 1: Request fall/spring DC courses in SchooLinks by February 13, 2026. If you are taking summer DC classes only you will skip this step.
Step 2: Submit your HCC application through ApplyTexas at www.applytexas.org. If you have already taken dual credit through HCC previously and have an HCC W number (ID), you do NOT need to apply again and can skip this step. HCC used to be called Houston Community College, but they started the name change process last fall. They are now Houston City College in ApplyTexas.
Use your first and last name as they are listed in Skyward, not a nickname. Only fill out the required fields marked with the red asterisk (*).
- Type of application: Dual Credit.
- Academic Program Plan: Undecided.
- Academic Degree: Freshman (0-29 Credit Hours)
- Term: Choose the one in which you will begin dual credit (Summer 2026, Fall 2026 or Spring 2027)
You will only submit ONE HCC application even if you are taking courses in multiple terms.
Within 2-3 days, you will receive an acceptance email from HCC with an HCC student ID number. Your HCC ID starts with a W followed by nine digits. If you do not have a Social Security number, HCC will assign a P number to you. Do not lose your student ID.
Please note that it can take a few days to receive your HCC ID so do not wait!
Step 3: Complete and submit all of the following requirements by the deadline to the right.
- Complete the Ridge Point Dual Credit Course Request Form
- You can only take two DC classes in the summer
- You cannot take a minimester at any time
- During the summer there are limits on the courses that you can take; please refer to this list when enrolling
- Complete the HCC Dual Credit Waiver Form
- It is important that you complete this waiver form with the correct information as instructed below. Failure to do will render your enrollment obsolete.
- Student email: use your personal email, not your FBISD email
