What is Dual Credit?
-
2026-27 DUAL CREDIT ENROLLMENT INFORMATION IS AVAILABLE AT THE LINK TO THE RIGHT.
What is a dual credit course? Dual credit courses are courses which students take while in high school where they can get both high school AND college credit at the same time. They are offered to students in FBISD through Houston Community College at no charge for students inside of the HCC taxing district ($65 for out-of-district students). Students are required to purchase any books or materials.
Some dual credit courses are offered onsite at Ridge Point, taught by Ridge Point teachers who are also approved HCC professors. In 2025-26, Ridge Point offered US History, English IV and Economics onsite. Some dual credit classes are offered online and some are offered at HCC.
A complete listing of the approved FBISD dual credit courses is available in the link to the right. Students must follow specific enrollment procedures in order to take a dual credit class. Please see the links to the right for more information about enrollment.
Please contact Dual Credit Coordinator and College and Career Readiness Advisor Susanna Jakubik for any questions on dual credit.
