    FBISD Student Transfers Application Process

    Updated August 18, 2025

The Department of Student Affairs has made important changes to the student transfer process to better accommodate the needs of students and families.  Beginning in January 2025, all current transfer students and those students requesting a new transfer, including those of FBISD employees, must submit a transfer application annually to remain at or attend a transfer campus for the next school year.

The transfer request window for the 2025-26 school year is now closed.  No transfer requests will be accepted after the application window has closed except for the following reasons:

    • A student has had a change of residence after the start of school and is requesting to remain at their current campus.
    • A student is requesting a sibling transfer (Please note: siblings of PK students are not eligible to transfer to PK campus)
    • The student is the child of a peace officer or military service member and is requesting a transfer in accordance with HB1959 or HB 2892.
    • FBISD employee is a newly hired full-time benefits-eligible employee or current employee newly assigned to a different campus or work location.
    • A student is the victim of documented physical assault or documented bullying after the transfer application window has closed.

If your student meets one of the eligibility requirements listed above, you may contact the Department of Student Affairs at student.affairs@fortbendisd.gov or (281) 327-2829 to discuss transfer options.
