Coding Club
-
Welcome to the Fort Bend Coding Club at Quail Valley Middle School.
Here, students will be exposed to learn and practice the basics - intermediate - advanced levels of computer programming that is not only fun and interesting to students but also gives them a window to future paths that will be open to them. Along with foreign languages, coding is a language that is needed for careers of the future.
The students will learn and use different programming languages(ie text-based-[python, java script, html] and visual-based [block code]) to code. They use platforms such as(but not limited to) Replit, Code.org, Scratch, Turtle Art, Lego Spike Education, etc... to create their coding, animations, games, and storytelling.
QVMS Coding Club inspires our students to be leaders and problem solvers. We aim for our students to participate in the rigorous and challenging competitions held annually. We incorporate high school mentors, mostly former QVMS students currently enrolled at Elkins High School and Dulles High Schools' coding programs, to facilitate lesson presentations and support our coding club members to go into the community to display our skills and foster meaningful relationships today... tomorrow and beyond!
