In accordance with FBISD GT programming, all GT-identified students who attend Quail Valley Middle School receive gifted and talented services--either in their regularly scheduled classes or, if they apply and are accepted, in the Gifted and Talented Academy that is housed on our campus.

The Gifted and Talented Academy (GTA) is FBISD's only school-of-choice program for middle school-aged students. It is designed to meet the needs of GT-identified students in an intellectually and emotionally supportive environment that is uniquely tailored with gifted learners in mind. The curriculum is compacted, accelerated, and differentiated to appropriately engage and challenge students in the program. For all core classes (ELA, History, Math, Science, Social Studies), GTA students are scheduled in GTA sections with GTA teachers who have been specially trained and who have designed curriculum for their gifted learners. GTA students also take Spanish all three years, leaving the academy with 2 credits of high school Spanish under their belt. 

Students who are interested in attending the GTA must be GT-identified by FBISD and must submit an application while in 5th grade in order to be considered for a roster space in the GTA. The GTA is a cohort program, meaning students can only enter the academy starting in their 6th grade year and, thereafter, will complete 7th and 8th grade with a consistent cadre of classmates who are also GT-identified. Bus transportation is provided by FBISD for students who attend the GTA.
