ALL ABOUT MRS. JOHNSON
Greetings Palmer Fifth Graders and Families! I can’t wait to see all of your smiling faces! I am thrilled to be a part of your student’s educational journey this year. Fifth grade is a pivotal grade for students, as they transition from elementary to middle school. They are also expected to become more independent as they tackle rigorous, engaging content , dig deeper into reading comprehension, and think analytically.
Now I’d like to provide more information that lets you know a little more about Mrs. Johnson. I am from Ohio. I am a proud Retired Navy Spouse and Navy Mom. I have two adult sons, two adult daughters, and six grandchildren. I have had the pleasure of moving around during my husband’s military career. We have lived in sunny Florida, both Pensacola and Tampa, and in Pearland (twice).
I have been teaching for the past 19 years and 12 of those years with Alvin ISD. Over the years, I’ve taught Third, Fourth, and Fifth grades. I have been Self-Contained (3rd, 4th, and 5th grade), and have taught many diversely-needed learners, from Gifted and Talented to those requiring individualized needs. I helped to bring STEM/Robotics to Palmer and pilot the Sea Perch program on the campus. For the last three years, students in grades third to fifth have participated in teams to design an underwater ROV (remote-operated vehicle) and participate in the South East Texas Regional Competition. For the past two years, Palmer has had students place in the top 3 teams out of 90 teams in both the elementary and high school divisions. They have advanced and competed in the SeaPerch International Competition at the University of Maryland.
Aside from teaching, I love to cook (Food Network is one of my favorite channels!), shop, go to the beach, go on cruises, travel, and attend sporting events.
I am very dedicated to my students' education and their progress. I will do my best to teach them as much as possible to help them achieve their academic best, build confidence in themselves, and challenge them through engaging content.
My door is always open. Please do not hesitate to reach out. I value your ideas, thoughts, and concerns.
Let’s have a great year!
Mrs. Johnson
