Mrs. Kari Bruhn

Cougar Cub Family,

This year marks my fifth year as principal at PGE, and I am grateful every day for the opportunity to serve this amazing school community. I graduated from the University of Wyoming with a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education and later earned my Master’s in Administration and Supervision from the University of Houston. Over the past 24 years, I have been privileged to work as a teacher, instructional specialist, campus administrator, and district director in Fort Bend ISD.

I began my career at Mission Bend Elementary as a 5th-grade Math and Science teacher and later taught 2nd, 3rd, 5th, 6th, and 8th grade before moving into administration. I served as an Assistant Principal at Dulles Middle School prior to becoming principal of Mission Glen Elementary, where I spent five wonderful years. I then had the honor of opening James Patterson Elementary, our district’s 50th elementary school, and served as principal there for three years. Afterward, I supported districtwide teacher development for a year and a half before joining PGE—now entering my fifth year leading our Cougar Cubs.

I have been fortunate to grow my leadership through Raise Your Hand Texas (RYHT), including learning experiences through the Rice University Education Entrepreneurship Program and the Harvard Graduate School of Education’s Art of Leadership Institute. I continue to work with RYHT to advocate for public education and engage in meaningful professional learning.

I love being an educator and advocating for students. My commitment is that every child at PGE excels both academically and as a person of strong character. I look forward to spending time with our students, partnering with our staff and families, and celebrating the many successes ahead.

We are destined for greatness at PGE!

Mrs. Angelina Byrd

It is a privilege and an honor for Mrs. Angelina Byrd to serve the Pecan Grove Elementary family as the new Assistant Principal. Throughout the duration of her career in education she is pleased to say that she has served in various instructional capacities in FBISD as a 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade teacher. She’s also served as Campus Math Specialist, Professional Learning Leader, TAPP Mentor and Team Leader. This experience has continuously nurtured her strong desire to help teachers and students by building their capacity and confidence in becoming the best representation of themselves. Mrs. Byrd has a love of learning, a love of learners, and a love of bringing the two together. This love of learning includes initiating long-lasting relationships with students, teachers, parents, and members of the community. Mrs. Byrd’s educational philosophy is grounded in the belief that all students can learn with the right support in place. This support begins with establishing and maintaining good, positive, and long-lasting relationships with all stakeholders.

Mrs. Byrd is originally from South Carolina. She received her Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from South Carolina State University, Masters of Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Texas at Tyler, and Principal Certification from Lamar University. She is a proud mother and wife and enjoys spending time with her family. In her spare time, she enjoys traveling, reading, cooking, and learning new things that will expand her skills.

She looks forward to nurturing and maintaining the longevity of established relationships with the PGE community and forming new long-lasting relationships with people who are new to the community.
