Hello Pecan Grove Elementary families! I am thrilled about beginning my eighth year of teaching in Fort Bend ISD. I moved to Houston in 2017, from west Texas. I was born and raised in El Paso, Texas. I graduated from the University of Texas El Paso (go Miners) and began my teaching career in Alpine, Texas. I will be entering my fifteenth year of teaching. My husband, and I have a daughter, and two furry pets. My husband is an elementary assistant principal in FBISD.  

While working in FBISD, I've had the opportunity to open James Patterson Elementary, work as a math specialist at Malala Yousafzai Elementary, write curriculum for standards-based grading, mentor novice teachers, serve in leadership forums, present district professional development, and now embark on my journey to become a nationally board certified educator. I pride myself on being a life-long learner, and investing in my craft to deliver a rigorous education all students deserve. 

I've taught first, third, and fourth grade. While being a math specialist for two years, I had the opportunity to focus on math instruction from pre-k through fifth grade. I believe all students can accomplish anything they want to achieve, through dedication, perseverance, and mentoring. Building an equitable, positive, and safe classroom community with my students is essential for success. Teaching students to advocate for themselves, self-assess their learning, seek tools for support, reflect, and monitor their goals is my passion. 

I hope you are eager to embark on a wonderful learning experience filled with goals, challenges, risk-taking, and reflection. I am committed to creating a support team with you for your child, as they make progress and grow throughout the school year. 

Thank you for sharing your children with me and entrusting me to provide them with a memorable learning experience while maintaining a growth mindset. It's going to be an extraordinary school year.
