• Fort Bend ISD 2025–26 District Assessments: Purpose & Use


    Circle Progress Monitoring PreK (English & Spanish)

    Readiness and progress monitoring assessment administered three times per year to
    Prekindergarten students. Measures early literacy, early numeracy, and social-emotional
    development.
    Administered to: All Prekindergarten students (English and Spanish). Required by TEA.


    MAP Reading Fluency (incl. Dyslexia Screener & Spanish versions)

    Adaptive assessment measuring phonics, comprehension, and oral reading fluency.
    Supports dyslexia screening and progress monitoring. Spanish versions serve bilingual
    students.
    Administered to: All Kindergarten–2nd Grade students.


    Circle Kindergarten Progress Monitoring (formerly TX-KEA)

    One-time literacy screener required by TEA under House Bill 3. Measures foundational
    language and literacy skills. Spanish versions support bilingual students.
    Administered to: All Kindergarten students. Required by TEA.


    MAP Growth (Reading, Math, Science – English & Spanish)

    Computer-adaptive, nationally normed test that measures achievement and growth in core
    subjects. Provides RIT scores to track growth, inform instruction, and measure learning
    over time. Spanish versions ensure access for bilingual program students.
    Administered to: All students in Grades K–10. Primary tool for measuring growth and used
    as part of the Teacher Incentive Allotment (TIA).


    Fine Arts District Benchmark Assessments

    Local performance-based assessments for music, theater, and visual arts. Gauge mastery of
    fine arts standards, provide data for program evaluation, and guide instruction.
    Administered to: Students in fine arts programs as designated by course/grade level.


    Local GT Cognitive Abilities Tests

    Nationally normed cognitive ability tests used for gifted/talented identification. Measure
    reasoning and problem-solving skills (verbal, quantitative, nonverbal).
    Administered to: Universal screening for all 2nd Grade students and referred students in
    Grades K–11.


    TELPAS / TELPAS Alternate (K–12 English language proficiency)

    State-mandated English language proficiency assessment (listening, speaking, reading,
    writing) for emergent bilingual (EB) students. TELPAS Alternate is for students with
    significant cognitive disabilities.
    Administered to: All emergent bilingual (EB) students in Grades K–12 identified through the
    Home Language Survey and initial language assessment. Required by federal law.


    Avant STAMP 4Se (Spanish language proficiency)

    External exam measuring Spanish language proficiency (listening, speaking, reading,
    writing). Supports dual language program evaluation.
    Administered to: All dual language students in Kindergarten, 2nd Grade, and 4th Grade.


    Iowa (Grades 1–2, 11–12)

    Norm-referenced assessment used as part of TEA reclassification criteria for emergent
    bilingual (EB) students.
    Administered to: Selected EB students in Grades 1–2 and 11–12 demonstrating potential for
    reclassification.


    Social Studies District Assessments (#1 & #2)

    Locally developed content assessments in social studies. Check mastery of TEKS standards,
    inform instruction, and measure STAAR readiness.
    Administered to: All students in Grades 2–5.


    ESL-District English Language Proficiency Assessments (BOY, MOY, EOY)

    Assessment for students in secondary newcomer ESL courses measuring listening,
    speaking, reading, and writing. Guides placement and linguistic supports.
    Administered to: All middle and high school students enrolled in newcomer ESL courses.


    STAAR & STAAR Alternate

    Texas state accountability assessments aligned to TEKS. STAAR Alternate is for students
    with significant cognitive disabilities.
    Administered to: All students in Grades 3–8 and students enrolled in English I, English II,
    Algebra I, Biology, and U.S. History. Required by TEA.


    PSAT/NMSQT (Grades 8, 10, 11)

    College readiness and National Merit Scholarship qualifying exam. Provides SAT practice,
    connects students to scholarships, and measures AP/college readiness.
    Administered to: All students in Grades 8, 10, and 11.


    AP Exams (High School)

    College Board exams tied to Advanced Placement courses. Students may earn college credit
    or placement. Included in CCMR accountability indicators.
    Administered to: All students enrolled in AP courses.


    SAT (High School)

    Fort Bend ISD provides interested students with multiple opportunities to take both the
    SAT and ACT throughout the school year. The district also participates in SAT School Day,
    giving all 11th grade students the chance to take the SAT during a regular school day at
    their campus.


    World Languages SGMA (Levels I & II, Pre & Post)

    Student growth measure assessments for Spanish, French, German, Chinese, and Japanese
    Level I & II courses. Provide proficiency data to guide instruction.
    Administered to: All students enrolled in Level I & II World Language courses.
