• Purpose of the Course:  The general purpose of the course is to introduce the student to the American political system and the importance of citizen participation.  This course is required for graduation.

    Summary of Course Content:  The U.S. Government course is a semester course.  It will first review the struggles of our Founding Generation as they fought to gain independence and freedom, culminating with the Constitutional Convention.  The remaining units will encompass the legislative, executive, and judicial branches as well as federalism, political parties, voting, elections, interest groups, national defense, foreign policy, comparative government systems, and current events.
