Masters of Arts in Educational Leadership with principal certification Bachelor of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies
Mrs. Jana Roberds
I am so excited to be a part of the DLE family and cannot wait to see what amazing things my students and I can accomplish. I joined FBISD in the summer of 2004 at Sienna Crossing Elementary School. I loved teaching 5th grade, then transferred to RTMS to teach 6th grade math. I was ready to be back in elementary school, so I made this exciting move!!!
This will be my 30th year of teaching. I graduated in 1995 with my undergraduate degree from Lamar University in Beaumont, Texas, where I was a member of Alpha Chi Omega and the girls' soccer team. I started my career in 1995 at West Brook High School in Beaumont, teaching Algebra I. I moved to Louisiana where I taught third grade for two years. After transferring to Jasper, Texas, I taught second grade for five years. I also received my Master’s degree in May 2003 from Stephen F. Austin University in Educational Leadership, and I received my principal certification in 2004. I taught at Sienna Crossing Elementary School for 14 years. My husband and I have two children. Madison is 27 and graduated with a Biomedical Science degree from Texas A&M in 2020. She then went on to get her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from Texas A&M in 2024. She is currently a Veterinarian at Brenham Veterinarian Hospital in Brenham, Texas. Carson is 19 and will be a sophomore at Texas A&M University majoring in engineering. He LOVES fixing things, hunting, fishing, and anything outdoors!
I am very proud to say I was the RTMS Teacher of the Year for the 2019-2020 school year. I then went on to become one of the top 12 finalists for FBISD secondary schools. The excitement I get from teaching carries over into my classroom. I want my students to realize that mistakes are OKAY. That means we are learning. My students become independent thinkers who understand and embrace their differences. I never stop learning, and I encourage my students to do the same.
