To enroll in Fort Bend’s Pre-Kindergarten Program for the 2026-27 school year, your child must meet the following criteria to qualify for the FBISD Pre-K Program:
- Must be 4 years of age on or before September 1, 2026, for the 2026-27 school year
- Must be a Fort Bend ISD resident
TUITION-FREE PRE-K:
To qualify for tuition-free Pre-K, families must also meet ONE of the following requirements:
- The student is identified as a Language Learner by the state-required language assessment. Students qualifying by language will be tested to determine placement in the program or
- Families must qualify according to the Federal Income Eligibility Guidelines. Proof of income is required before your child’s seat can be secured. Parents must bring current proof of gross income/documentation for all adults in the household (at least one month of income/30 days from the registration day), including current paycheck stubs, child support statement of payment, SNAP qualification letter, etc.
- The student’s family is homeless.
- The student is in foster care and has the current or previous conservatorship of the Department of Family and Protective Services or
- The student is a dependent child of an active U.S. Armed Forces member or a service member who has been injured or killed while on active duty.
- The student is a dependent of a police officer, firefighter, or emergency medical responder who was seriously injured or killed in the line of duty and received the Star of Texas Award.
- Is the dependent child of an FBISD full-time certified teacher assigned to provide instruction in a PreK–12 classroom for at least half a day.
The documentation verification and language assessment process will begin on April 1.TUITION-BASED PRE-K:
Students who do not meet the eligibility criteria for tuition-free Pre-K have an opportunity to register in the FBISD Tuition-Based Pre-K Program.
