About Tuition-Based Pre-K4

  • Tuition-based Pre-K is a TEA-approved program that allows school districts to extend services to children who do not meet the state's required eligibility for pre-kindergarten. The qualifiers for Pre-K are income (according to the Federal Income Eligibility Guidelines), English language needs, homelessness, current or previous conservatorship of the Department of Family and Protective Services (foster care), military status, and eligibility to receive the Star of Texas Award for Emergency Responders under the Texas Government Code §3106. 2, 3, or 4. If you believe your child qualifies under any criteria, follow the registration process on pages 16-17 of the Early Childhood Programs Family Handbook.

Although you may think your family may not qualify, we ask you to please review the 2024-25 Federal Income Eligibility Guidelines before completing the registration application. Eligibility guidelines for the 2025-26 school year will be published on April 1st, 2025. Keep in mind that you will have to submit documentation supporting household income. Students meeting income guidelines will participate in the FBISD Pre-K program for free.

The tuition-based program will be available at 21 sites across the district. It will have a limited number of seats (less than 9% of the total number of seats assigned to Pre-K) and will be offered on a first-come, first-served basis. After all tuition-based Pre-K seats are assigned, FBISD will not open additional classrooms for tuition-based purposes.

The tuition fee for the 2025-26 school year is $6,615 or $661.50 monthly.

The EZChildTrack platform will process the initial application and collect monthly fees (a $50 non-refundable fee for enrollment). The selection of a different program will delay processing time.  Due to the high volume of applications, this process may take up to 5 school days.

    4. Accept Billing and Participation Policy

By enrolling their children in the Tuition-Based program, parents will adhere to the following policies:

    • The Pre-K Tuition-Based program fee for the 2025-26 school year is pending approval.
    • Payments must be made with a major credit card or checking account.
    • Credit card payments through EZChildTrack receive a three-day grace period before late fees apply.
    • Select the automatic payment option to avoid late fees after entering the payment method.
    • Tuition is due on the 1st day of each month.
    • There is a late fee of $10 per day for payments not received by the 1st of the month.
    • Failure to pay tuition fees by the 10th day of the month will result in the student being withdrawn from the Pre-K Tuition-Based program.

Please enroll your child in the Pre-Kindergarten Program 2025-26 FBISD Residents - NON-Employees instead of the program for FBISD employees. Selecting the incorrect program or school year will slow the review process of your child's application.
