    FBISD Mental Health Therapists provide mental health support and services across all campuses in the district, helping students navigate challenges and build resilience.

    Rashan is a native of New Orleans, Louisiana—a place she endearingly calls "home"—and now resides in Texas. She is the proud mother of a dapper 14-year-old student-athlete who keeps her schedule just as full as she keeps her own. As a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Rashan brings extensive experience working with students of all ages navigating life’s toughest challenges. Her background includes expertise in co-occurring psychiatric and substance use disorders (COPSD), substance use disorders (SUD), and trauma, using tools such as the Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) framework and a Trauma-Informed Care approach.

    She also holds a Master’s Degree in Public Administration with a focus on Nonprofit Management, through which she provides consulting and coaching services. Recently, she expanded her passion into writing, publishing her first guided journal, Purposeful Life: A Passion-Driven Guided Journal, and co-authoring Taking the S Off My Chest. Rashan is also a speaker on the Mind Matters Health and Wellness Channel, featured on the Black House Media Streaming Network. Her work is truly her passion, and she lets that passion guide her purpose.

    kara hatfield

    Kara Hatfield is a Licensed Professional Counselor with over 10 years of clinical experience working with children, adolescents, young adults, and their families across a wide range of concerns. Her background includes individual, family, and group therapy, crisis intervention, and psychological assessment. Kara has worked in various mental health settings, including residential treatment centers, hospital environments, school-based programs, and outpatient care. She earned a Master of Science in Counseling Psychology from the University of North Texas.

    Kara takes an eclectic and individualized approach to therapy, tailoring treatment to best meet each client’s needs. She believes in recognizing and building upon each individual’s unique strengths and resilience to foster hope, confidence, healing, and growth. Kara currently supports the Elkins and Ridge Point feeder patterns.

    jesse moreno

    Jesse Moreno is the Mental Health Therapist for the Dulles, Travis, and Willowridge feeder patterns. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and a Master of Arts in Clinical Psychology from the University of Houston–Clear Lake. He became a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in 2008.Jesse is a proud Fort Bend ISD graduate, having attended Lakeview Elementary, Sugar Land Middle School, and Kempner High School, where he graduated in 1996. Before joining FBISD as a Mental Health Therapist in 2019, he worked with Family Services of Greater Houston, Houston ISD, and Fort Bend County Juvenile Probation.

    In his spare time, Jesse enjoys golfing, fishing, coaching baseball, and spending time with his wife, four sons, and daughter.

    maritza veliz

    Maritza Veliz is a bilingual (English/Spanish) Licensed Professional Counselor-Supervisor. She earned her Bachelor's degree in Psychology from the University of Houston and her Master's degree in Clinical Psychology from the University of Houston–Clear Lake. Maritza spent 10 years working with adolescents at the Fort Bend County Juvenile Probation Department and has served as a mental health therapist with Fort Bend ISD since 2019.

    She currently supports the Bush and Clements feeder patterns, as well as Spanish-speaking students throughout the district. Maritza is passionate about trauma-informed care, promoting student healing and growth, strengthening family relationships, and collaborating with staff and parents to ensure students receive the support they need.

    antwanette weaver

    Antwanette Weaver is a board-certified Licensed Professional Counselor and currently serves as a Mental Health Therapist with Fort Bend ISD. Over the course of her nearly 25-year career with the district, she has held multiple roles, including nine years as the School Counselor at Juan Seguin Elementary. In addition to her work in the district, she has provided mental health services to individuals and families in the private sector, as well as to those involved with Children’s Protective Services.

    Antwanette holds both a Master of Education in Counseling and a Bachelor of Interdisciplinary Studies from the University of Houston–Victoria. She is also a certified Professional School Counselor and certified Teacher. A proud graduate of Willowridge High School, Antwanette remains deeply committed to giving back to the community that helped shape her. Her personal goal is to help every client achieve optimal mental health while reaching their full potential.

    Mallory Pryor is the Mental Health Therapist for the Austin and Kempner feeder patterns. She is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) with over 16 years of experience providing therapeutic services to youth. A proud Louisiana native, Mallory earned a Bachelor of Science in Psychology and a Master’s degree in Social Work from Louisiana State University (Geaux Tigers!).

    Her work has primarily focused on supporting students in school settings, addressing mental health challenges such as ADHD, anxiety, depression, grief, oppositional defiant disorder (ODD), and other diagnoses. Mallory takes an empathetic and individualized approach to therapy, helping students recognize their strengths. She is committed to building meaningful connections with students, families, and school staff to support students in overcoming challenges and reaching their full potential.
