I am truly honored to serve as the principal of Malala Elementary School. It's a privilege to be a part of this amazing educational community.

My journey in education began when I started my teaching career at Elsik High School as a social studies teacher and tennis coach. These early experiences in the classroom taught me the value of education in shaping young minds and the importance of extracurricular activities in holistic student development.

Throughout my career, I've had the opportunity to work in various educational leadership roles, each contributing to my passion for serving students and their families. I served as an assistant principal at T.H. Rogers School for 9 years, where I gained a deep appreciation for the diverse needs of our student population and the power of inclusive education.

Before taking on the role of principal at Malala Elementary, I had the privilege of being the FBISD High School Programs coordinator. In this role, I oversaw the STEM academies, P-TECH (Pathways in Technology Early College High School), and Early College High School programs. This experience broadened my perspective on the many paths to academic success and allowed me to witness the incredible potential of our students when provided with the right opportunities and support.

At Malala Elementary School, we are inspired by the legacy of the remarkable Malala Yousafzai. Malala's unwavering commitment to girls' education and her courage in the face of adversity serve as a beacon for our school's mission. We are dedicated to creating a safe, inclusive, and nurturing environment where every child is encouraged to learn, explore, and discover their unique potential. We believe in fostering a love for learning and empowering our students to become compassionate and socially responsible citizens.

I'm excited to be a part of this exceptional community, and I'm committed to working collaboratively with our dedicated staff, parents, and, most importantly, our students to ensure that Malala Elementary School remains a place of growth, achievement, and inspiration.

Thank you for entrusting us with the education and well-being of your children. I look forward to the incredible journey ahead and the positive impact we will make together.

    Hello Leopards!

It is with great excitement that I introduce myself as the newest member of the Malala Elementary family.  I am very excited to be part of the amazing story that this campus tells each day in fulfilling the mission to educate and inspire the students.  I look forward to collaborating with the staff and parents as assistant principal to provide a high-quality educational experience.  It is my privilege to join an already strong campus culture where the community and staff work together to Lead and Empower students to Achieve their Purpose.

As a product of Fort Bend ISD, attending Barrington Place Elementary, Sugar Land Middle School, and Kempner High School, I wanted to serve the district where my very own educational journey began long ago.  I am now in my 21st year as an educator within the district since graduating from Texas Tech University.  Wreck ‘em!  I have had the joy of teaching kindergarten, 2nd grade, and 4th grade during the first half of my career. At the end of my time in the classroom, the desire to have a greater impact in the community grew.  It was at this time that I went back to earn my Master of Education in Educational Leadership from the University of Houston-Victoria.  Soon after, I transitioned out of the classroom to serve as a data specialist on a Title 1 campus.  For the last 9 years, I have served at both Juan Seguin Elementary and Walker Station Elementary as Campus Compliance Coordinator supporting the special education families, facilitating state testing, and serving as Section 504 coordinator.  Throughout my time as an educator my passions have included curriculum, response to instruction/intervention, and special education.  Each of these key components for success on a campus holds a special place in my heart.  I am excited to use all of my experiences to work alongside Mr. Lam and Dr. Carrington to build relationships and meet the needs of our students, staff, and families and instill a passion for learning, achievement, and growth.

On a more personal note, my husband and I are the proud parents of four Fort Bend ISD students.  I am a huge advocate for developing the whole child as there is so much out there the world has to offer.  In addition to their school activities, my children have opportunities and experiences through their involvement in our faith practices, through sports, and within scouting.  In addition to serving the school, I also take an active part in the community by volunteering at church and in scouts.

I truly believe it takes a village to raise a child, and I am delighted to be a part of the Malala Elementary village.  Let’s change the world one student at a time!  Thank you for this opportunity, and I won’t let you down.

    Dr. Felecia Carrington, Assistant Principal

My name is Dr. Felecia Carrington and I couldn’t be more honored to join the MYE family.   Malala Elementary represents the best of FBISD and I consider myself blessed to be a Leopard!

This is my 25th year in education. I began my career in Alief ISD where I had the opportunity to serve as a high school teacher and counselor before being chosen as a secondary administrator.  As an administrator in Alief, I was able to serve at both the middle school, high school, and specialized campuses.  I joined Fort Bend in 2015 and have served as an administrator in both elementary and middle school.

I am a lifelong learner and believe it is my responsibility to build others as lifelong learners.  Education is the best gift to offer.   I received a Bachelor of Business Administration in Management from Prairie View A&M University (Go Panthers!).  I, then, went on to attain a Master of Arts in Counseling also from PVAMU.  While serving as a counselor, I returned to school and earned a second Masters in Educational Administration from the University of Houston – Victoria.  Finally, I achieved a Doctoral Degree in Educational Leadership, specializing in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Houston Clear Lake.  (Go Hawks!)

I am grateful to have the opportunity to serve a diverse community.  I believe that diversity is our strength and each student and family have a great deal to offer others through their culture and experiences.    I believe in the power of the educator and the lifelong impact that we have. I strive daily to pay forward the opportunity given to me by some very special educators who made the difference for me.  Finally, I believe that we share the common desire to provide the very best for our students. We will unite in our efforts to create an amazing place for our family.

Let’s partner together to ensure that every Leopard LEAP’s to their full potential.  We are #MALALASTRONG
