Dr. Cheryl Dunlap, MA, CPC, EKG Tech, BS, MBA. DC

Dr. Dunlap obtained a DC from Texas Chiropractic College, a MBA from the American InterContinental University, and a BS in Biology from the University of Houston. She is certified as an EKG technician via National Heathcareer Association, a BLS instructor via the American Heart Association, a medical assistant via the American Association of Medical Assistants, and a certified professional coder via American Academy of Professional Coders. Dr. Dunlap has TEA certifications to teach Health Science (6-12), Science (7-12), and Math & Science (4-8). I ascribe to engaging each student into my class lectures. I integrate visual, auditory, kinesthetic, and media components into my lectures. I combine learning styles to maximize student engagement and comprehension. In addition, I utilize the Socratic style of questioning to ensure that students are engaged and integrating novel concepts. I utilize life applications and students’ interest in class discussions and lectures.

Dr. Dunlap has over 25 years of teaching experience in adult and secondary education. She taught within the Science department at Houston Community College for eight years and the Medical Assistant curriculum for 10 years. She served as the MA Program Director for five years and Assistant Director of Education for two and a half years. She has taught Health Science at Ridge Point HS since 2023.

Dr. Dunlap’s advice to students is that students must prevail and overcome all obstacles that may impede their career goals and be steadfast in their endeavors.
