Hello Parents!

My name is Mary Arriaga and I am excited to be your child’s 2nd grade Math/Science teacher this year! I was born and raised in Houston, Texas. I graduated from University of Houston-Downtown. I have taught Kindergarten and 1st grade. Also, I have been an ESL teacher for 3 years, so total experience in the teaching field - 10 years.

I have two huskies and a daughter in 3rd grade. I like going to the movies, to the beach, and traveling.   

My philosophy for learning is that each child is unique, and each child learns in a different way. Therefore, one of my jobs as a teacher is to help your child discover his or her individuality and work alongside with them to maximize it. I believe in hands-on experiences, learning creatively and learning though play. I believe that good communication between parent, teacher, and student is very important for your child’s academic growth.

I am excited for this opportunity to work with both of you and your child and am really looking forward to a fun–filled educational year!
