Hey there Longhorns! My name is Mrs. Karisma Huber-Mendoza. I joined the Baines family in 2024 but began my teaching journey in Fall of 2020 in FBISD. I am the Assistant Choir Director here at BMS and teach all 6th grade treble singers (Bluebonnet Choir), beginner 7th/8th trebles (Yellow Rose Choir), and 7th Grade Varsity Trebles (Lariat Choir). I love teaching choir because of the way I get to teach my students about being better humans to each other and themselves through music and singing!

A little about me...

I was born in 1997 (yes, I am a Gen-Z/Millenial cusper!!) on April 4th in Amarillo, TX and was raised my entire life in Muleshoe, TX. It's a teeeeeeny tiny town in West Test if you're curious. I graduated high school in 2015 and attended Texas Tech University after that where I earned my bachelor degree in Music Education in December of 2019. During COVID I made the decision to move out to Houston to begin my teaching career in Fort Bend ISD. I taught high school choir at Thurgood Marshall HS for four years before making the move to teach where my heart lay: middle school!!! 

Outside of my job I love to spend time with my husband and three pets (two cats: Willow and Bean, one staffordshire terrier: Lucy). I love to go to the movies (especially if they're scary!!), read interesting books, cook at home, play Hello Kitty Island Adventure on my Switch, go to concerts, play instruments (mostly guitar/piano), and spend time with my friends. 

I am so excited for another year at BMS and to make some incredible music with you all alongside my partner in crime, Mr. Villegas!! Lasso up!
