Private/Charter/Home School Students
Interested fifth grade students who attend private/charter/home schools AND live in the FBISD zone must complete the following:
- Register for the February 6, 2027 GT Test Session for incoming private/charter/homeschool 6th graders prior to January 29, 2027. This test session will be administered at Fort Settlement Middle School at 8:30 am.
- Email the following documents to the GTA coordinator as proof of Fort Bend ISD residency prior to the January 29, 2027 deadline. Details about this email are found in the test registration form linked below.
- Current Report Card verifying the student is in the 5th grade
- Current lease or mortgage statement
- Current utility bill (electricity, gas, or water only)
- Texas Driver’s License matching the Fort Bend ISD address
- Score in the 97thpercentile or above on the non-verbal section of the CogAT (Cognitive Abilities Test).
- Apply for the GT Academy during the normal application window at https://academy.fortbendisd.com. Use the child's 6 digit birthdate (mmddyy) as his/her ID number.
- When the results of the February test session are received, if the student's data indicates a need for GT services in Fort Bend ISD, he/she will be entered into the tiered lottery alongside all other FBISD applicants.

IMPORTANT
Any Private/Charter/Homeschool student who misses the deadline for the February test session can still apply for FBISD GT Evaluation.
The next GT Test Session for enrolled private/charter/homeschool students will be following enrollment in FBISD during the Fall referral window.
Admission into the academy for eligible GT private/homeschool students will be handled on a case-by-case basis (based on availability) AFTER GT Eligibility is determined by the District's GT Department.
