Fort Bend Education Foundation surprises Goodman Elementary teachers with $500 gift cards

Fort Bend ISD (August 30, 2024) —Goodman Elementary teachers were surprised during a recent staff meeting when the Fort Bend Education Foundation announced that each would receive a $500 gift card to help outfit their classrooms.

In total, the foundation donated $37,500 to the 75 teachers on campus. The donation came after Superintendent Dr. Marc Smith informed the FBEF about the significant loss of supplies following a broken pipe that caused extensive water damage to the school over the summer break.

“The Fort Bend Education Foundation’s board of directors was thrilled to help out the teachers and staff at Goodman so they could re-outfit their rooms after the water damage occurred,” FBEF Executive Director Brenna Cosby said.

The foundation connected with Lakeshore Learning representative Will Whitley to set up a dedicated website where teachers can use their $500 to order needed items.

“The Goodman staff are elated to receive such an amazing level of support from our partners,” Goodman Elementary Principal Dr. Jonathan Sutton said. “Being a part of this system has genuinely made a difference as we ensure excellence for all.”
