My name is Iris Ferguson.  My longing to become a teacher began very early in life.  As a child, my mom worked as an educator for over 35 years.  Watching her at work definitely piqued my interest and I began emulating her with my neighborhood friends.  I would later enter Texas Southern University as an Early Child Development Major.  I wanted to positively impact the minds of young children who would one day be leaders all over the world.  

It's important that my classroom is warm, inviting, and child-friendly.  I like learning alongside my students and I make it a point to tell  them that I, myself, constantly learn new things all the time. I find humor throughout the day, while maintaining structure and a great classroom culture.

Teaching has been my absolute "happy place" for over 20 years and my experience spans from Pre-K through 3 grade.  I want my students to remember me as their greatest cheerleader who pushed them beyond the limits and always set them up for success.
