• National Junior Honor Society is an academic organization with a strong commitment to the values of scholarship, service, leadership, character and citizenship. This organization strives to help middle school students develop the knowledge and skills to become well-rounded student leaders in their school, community and beyond. National Junior Honor Society is an invitation to apply organization based on the criteria listed below. Students who are invited to apply will go through an application process in order to be approved for membership. 

    NJHS Acceptance Criteria:

    Must be enrolled in Sartartia Middle School and have completed at least one semester. 

    Must be going into eighth grade.

    Must have a cumulative average of 90.0% in their first semester of seventh grade.

    NJHS Application Process:

    Students who are invited to apply for National Junior Honor Society will complete an application for membership based on the five pillars. All completed applications will be reviewed by the SMS Faculty Council to approve members. 

    Scholarship

    Students must have a cumulative average of 90.0% for their first semester of seventh grade.

    Service

    Students will need to show evidence of past school and community service.

    Leadership

    Students will be asked to show evidence of leadership experience within their school and community.

    Character

    Students should not have any discipline referrals for an behavior, cheating, etc. 

    Citizenship

    The student will write a formal letter based on a prompt given. The student also has to collect a formal letter from a community member.
