Hi there! My name is Ruby Mendez, and I am so excited to be your child’s third grade Reading Language Arts and Social Studies teacher this year. I graduated from the University of Houston with a Bachelor of Science in Education in May 2025. Go Coogs! This is my second year at Madden Elementary, but my very first year as a classroom teacher. I feel incredibly grateful to be part of such a supportive and inspiring school community. Last year, I completed my teaching residency in second grade, where I gained hands-on experience and built a strong foundation for teaching. I am thrilled to be continuing my journey at Madden. It truly is a place where both students and teachers grow. Teaching is my passion, and I strive to spark a love of learning in every student. My goal is to create a classroom where children feel safe, encouraged, and excited to explore new ideas. I believe every child has unique strengths, and I am committed to helping each one shine.

When I’m not teaching, you can find me relaxing with my family or spending quality time with my two sweet (and slightly mischievous) cats, Pookie and Zoro. I also love reading and exploring new coffee shops.
