Financial Aid comes from the federal and local governments. It is money that helps a student pay for education expenses at a post-secondary school (college, career school, graduate school). Federal aid can cover expenses such as tuition and fees, room and board, books and supplies, and transportation. Financial Aid often comes in the form of both grants and loans.Scholarships are another form of financial aid that students can apply for. Scholarships can be based on academic performance, community service, financial need, etc. The application process can be as easy as filling out a form, or can be more lengthy and require an essay or interview.
Submitting FAFSA or TASFA is a graduation requirement in Texas
Students must complete FAFSA or TASFA and then submit evidence of completion to the campus CCR Advisor.
Evidence of completion is as follows:
- FAFSA - a screenshot of completion email showing student name and completion date.
- TASFA - a copy of your completed application submission.
- If you do not qualify for either, please see your CCR Advisor
Once FAFSA or TASFA has been completed, students must submit their evidence of completion in order to have the graduation requirement marked as complete.

Students that are classified as a Texas Resident who cannot apply for federal financial aid using the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) are encouraged to complete the TASFA.
