Ms. Briana Portis
My name is Ms. Portis, an 8th grade science teacher and PALS sponsor at Ronald Thornton Middle School. This is my fifth year teaching in Fort Bend ISD, and I absolutely love what I do!
Science is more than just facts and formulas. It’s about curiosity, discovery, and making connections to the world around us. My goal is to inspire students to think critically, ask questions, and develop a lifelong love of learning. Beyond academics, I am passionate about mentoring and empowering young minds to succeed both in and outside the classroom. As the PALS sponsor, I guide students in leadership and service initiatives that help build confidence, character, and a strong sense of community.
I am also currently working toward my Master’s degree in Counseling, furthering my mission to help students grow into their best selves academically, socially, and emotionally. I believe in the success of ALL students in ALL aspects, and I am committed to creating a supportive, engaging, and inspiring learning environment where every student can reach their full potential.
I’m looking forward to an amazing school year here at Thornton and can’t wait to learn and grow alongside my students!
