Lake Olympia Middle School was the eighth middle school opened by the fast-growing Fort Bend ISD in 1992. With 187,800 square feet of space, the school opened with an enrollment of 600 students. The campus was designed around a central "main street" concept. Level one includes a common core area which houses the administrative offices, the library, food service, the commons and stage, two gymnasiums equipped with locker rooms, special education, art, industrial technology and computer labs.
The eighth grade and some seventh grade classes and a science wing are located downstairs. Upstairs is home to the sixth grade. The school's other features include a weight room, a football field, 3 softball fields, four tennis courts and the KRAL-TV studio.
The school's mascot is the Mustang and the school colors are Columbia blue and white.
