Y. E. S. (Youth Expanding Service)
The Hightower High School YES Program thrives on promoting student participation and contribution to a wide variety of community services. The purpose of the program is to encourage a lifelong interest in volunteering. It promotes volunteerism more than philanthropy. Your community service contribution is recognized by the school when over 100 hours of service are accumulated over the course of your high school years (with no more than 25 hours in the summer). The YES Program is voluntary. Students may not be paid for any service they perform in order to obtain YES hours. The services or activities must be administered by a non-profit organization or agency.
The YES Program is YOUR responsibility. Your willingness to serve the community and your ability to accomplish a long-term and worthwhile project is demonstrated by constantly seeking a variety of volunteer opportunities, turning in the required forms in a timely manner and keeping track of your YES hours.
All students must have a contract on file before any hours are accepted.
Be sure to read the Y.E.S. Program Guidelines
Sign and submit the Y.E.S. Contract.** All hours & contracts must be submitted to Ms. Riley-Akpabio in the Storm Center no later than March 31st of their senior year. **
