Dual credit courses are college courses that students take while in high school, earning both high school and college credit. FBISD offers Dual Credit through Houston Community College for FREE if you reside within the HCC Taxing District. If you do not, there is a $65 fee per course per semester. All students must purchase textbooks. Please note that there are limitations to what students can take as Dual Credit as per our agreement with HCC.
Courses offered at HHS: US Government (12th grade), US History (11th grade), English (12th grade), College Algebra (12th Grade)
Summer options: Speech, Economics, Sociology, Psychology
What steps do I take to enroll in Dual Credit Courses?
1. Complete the Dual Credit Interest Form: Link HERE
2. During Course Selection (Mid-January), choose your desired Dual Credit course. *you will be removed if you do not meet the DC requirements*
3. Submit HCC Application via APPLYTEXAS.
4. Once accepted, email Mrs. Cardwell @angela.cardwell.fortbendisd.com the student's HCC ID#. *this can take up to 72 hours*
5. Mrs. Cardwell will email you the Dual Credit Waiver, Student Commitment Form, FERPA Release, FERPA Notary Form. *return these asap*
What are the testing requirements for Dual Credit Classes?
Students who are interested in taking a Dual Credit course must meet the College Readiness Benchmark in order to qualify.
