Hello. My name is Austin Smith, and I serve as the Head Band Director at Missouri City Middle School! I am so excited to be here with you! I am currently in my 8th year of teaching band.

Before I came to MCMS, I was the Assistant Band Director at South Houston Intermediate in Pasadena ISD for 6 years.

I have been playing the trumpet for 22 years. 

I graduated from Sam Houston State University in 2016, where I played in the Marching Band (where I was a section leader), Symphonic Band, Wind Ensemble, The Angry Orange Brass Band (The SHSU Basketball Band), The Old Main Brass Choir (a student led, and created ensemble), and the UBQ (a brass quintet I co-founded). While at SHSU, I was part of the Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia Musical Fraternity.  

In my free time, I love cooking and also trying new places to eat with my wife, as well as spending as much time with our dog, Max, as we can! I also enjoy playing golf as often as I can.

I am excited to be the Director of Bands. Mrs. Case and I are looking forward to a great year!
