• Attendance Recovery

     Parents and students are strongly encouraged to monitor their attendance frequently on Skyward/Family Access. Daily attendance in school is a strong indicator of future success. In addition, students earn course credit by meeting the course requirements and attending classes. Attendance is compulsory.

    The Texas Education Agency has notified all districts that the 90% attendance rule and truancy laws are in effect this school year. Students who fail to meet the 90% attendance rule will not earn course credit or be promoted to the next grade level.  Research shows that family engagement supports student success. Students with involved parents are more likely to earn higher grades and pass their classes, attend school regularly, have better social skills and go on to postsecondary education.Also, there is a direct correlation to low attendance and property values decreases. 

    Opportunities to earn back credits lost will be provided at a future date, time and location, contingent no additional absences are accumulated, whether excused or unexcused. Any absences received after the receipt of this letter will result in disqualification for earning any lost credits.

    Willowridge High School faculty and staff pride us on building meaningful relationships.  An extension of those relationships is the one we create with you.  By sharing common values, we can increase student achievement, which begins with improving attendance.

    Students will be given the opportunity to make up hours via Attendance Recovery.  Face-to-face students can attend after-school tutorials and Saturday school to make up time.

    If students have fallen below the 90% required state expectation for attendance, students will need to make up attendance hours in order to have an asterisk removed from the course, in order to receive credits.

    Student’s with an asterisks (*) symbol on their transcript indicates student who must make up Attendance hours from the previous semester. Student must inquire how many hours are required to make up time.
