Garcia Middle School

The Creative Arts and Innovation Program is a sequenced, interdisciplinary middle-school fine arts program (grades 6–8) designed to develop artistic skill, creative problem-solving, and civic engagement through studio practice, performance, and digital media. The program delivers curated learning experiences across visual art, music, theater, dance, and digital media, culminating in public exhibitions and an interdisciplinary capstone. It intentionally connects classroom practice to community partnerships, family-facing showcases, and a clear student portfolio pathway that prepares learners for future secondary-school arts pathways.

Experiences: Student Arts Leadership Studio, Community Mural Practicum, Interdisciplinary Capstone Showcase, Artist-in-Residence Practicum, Creative Collaboration Lab, Ensemble Performance Lab, Student-Led Performance and Concert Production Lab

Attendance

• 90% or better, including both excused and unexcused absences for the previous academic years

Academic

• Passing all classes from the previous academic school year
• Must provide a current report card
• STAAR - must be at Approaches, Meets, or Masters level

Discipline

• No more than 5 days of ISS and/or OSS
• No disciplinary alternative education (DAEP) placement
• No juvenile justice alternative education (JJAEP) placement
• No arrest, charge, or conviction of a criminal offense
• No current probation or other conditional release

Siblings

• Siblings of current transfer students must apply to be considered for enrollment (same criteria applies)

Employees

• Must submit a completed Choice Program application by the deadline, where applicable

Revocation

• Violation of the rules and policies as contained in the FBISD Student Code of Conduct, poor academic performance, repeated incidences of tardiness, or poor performance
