Filipino Student Association

  • Filipino Student Association

The Filipino Student Association (FSA) is a monthly gathering that celebrates Filipino heritage while connecting cultural identity to future opportunities. Each meeting creates a welcoming space where students explore the rich traditions, history, and values of Filipino culture through interactive activities, discussions, and guest presentations.

    Cultural Exploration

Members engage with Filipino traditions through language basics (Tagalog phrases), traditional foods and cooking demonstrations, music and dance (like Tinikling), art forms, and celebrations of important Filipino holidays and festivals. The club also discusses Filipino history, family values, and the experiences of Filipino-Americans navigating multiple cultural identities.

    Career and Opportunity Focus

FSA connects cultural pride to professional pathways by featuring Filipino professionals from various fields—healthcare (nurses, doctors), engineering, business, education, government, and the arts. Guest speakers share how their heritage influences their careers and discuss opportunities in organizations that value diversity. Students learn about scholarships specifically for Filipino-American students, community service projects that benefit Filipino communities, and leadership programs that celebrate cultural identity.

    Meeting Structure

Each monthly meeting typically includes a cultural component (food, activity, or tradition), a career or opportunity spotlight (guest speaker or college/scholarship information), and community building time for students to connect, share experiences, and plan future events. The relaxed, inclusive atmosphere encourages all students—whether of Filipino heritage or simply interested in learning—to participate and build meaningful connections.
