Mr. Christopher Spadone

I am excited to teach six sections of AP World History this year.  I really enjoy teaching AP World since I get to share my fascination with global history and culture, while helping students develop their writing and critical thinking skills.  This is my second year at Elkin's High School and I have been teaching since 1995.  I have taught AP Human Geography, AP Government, and AP Economics.  Prior to coming to Elkins, I taught at a variety of private and public schools in Philadelphia, New Orleans, and Houston.  I have also graded the AP US History exam every summer since 2008.

I am originally from western New York, but this will be my twentieth year in the Houston area.   I hold a Bachelor's Degree in Philosophy and Religion from Colgate University and a Masters in Government Administration from the University of Pennsylvania.  During college, I spent a semester studying in Yougoslavia and then traveled for a semester in South Asia. After college, I served as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Cameroon, West Africa.  I have traveled extensively in Africa, Asia, and Europe; I was fortunate to visit India, Sri Lanka, and Mexico this summer.

I am married with three adult sons.  In my free time, I like to read, cook Asian food, swim, and take care of my dogs.  I also host a weekly radio program focusing on African & Caribbean music on Rice University's KTRU-FM.
